Built for clinical collaboration.
Flore gives you doctor-ready reports and precision, strain-level formulations you can fold into a care plan. Microbiome data treated as medical-grade — not a consumer curiosity.
Flore was formerly Sun Genomics. Nine years of longitudinal data — 18,392 customers, ~23,000 microbiome tests, ~40,000 personalized formulations.
- Standardized PDF report
- Strain-level resolution
- Shareable raw data & ingredient list
- Precision synbiotic — capsules or powder
What you get
Output designed to be read by a clinician, stored in a chart, and acted on.
Standardized PDF reports
Every test returns a consistent, standardized PDF a clinician can interpret at a glance and store in the patient record — the same structure across patients and across time.
Strain-level reporting
Reporting resolves to the strain level, not just genus or phylum — so what you see maps to what a formulation can actually target.
Shareable with the ordering provider
Reports, the full ingredient list, and the underlying raw data can be shared directly with the ordering provider — no black box between the sample and your clinical decision.
A provider portal, not just a PDF
Patients can upload their tests into the Flore provider portal, the portal supports provider handoffs, and providers can add clinical-note inputs to the record — so a report becomes a shared, working part of the care plan.
Precision formulations
Where indicated, a synbiotic matched to that patient’s data — drawn from 100+ ingredients, with phages available. Delivered as capsules or powder, never liquid.
Longitudinal by default
Repeat testing uses the same standardized format, so change over time is legible at a glance rather than reconstructed from mismatched panels.
How Flore fits a care plan
Four steps you can fold into an existing workflow.
Test
The patient collects a sample at home. Sequencing runs at an independent CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory.
Strain-level report
Flore returns a standardized PDF you can interpret, discuss with the patient, and store in the chart.
Personalized formulation
Where indicated, a precision synbiotic matched to that patient’s profile — a data-driven intervention you fold into the plan, not a shelf product.
Track over time
Re-test on the same standardized report to see how the microbiome moved and adjust the plan on real data.
The science, honestly
What strain-level resolution buys you — and what the evidence does and does not yet support.
Flore reports from whole-genome (shotgun metagenomic) sequencing rather than 16S rRNA sequencing. Conceptually, 16S reads a single marker gene and generally resolves organisms to the genus level; whole-genome sequencing reads across the whole genome and can resolve to the species and strain level. Strain-level resolution is what lets a report line up with a formulation that targets specific organisms — not a broad category.
| 16S rRNA | Whole-genome (shotgun) | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical resolution | Genus level | Species / strain level |
| Reads | One marker gene | Across the whole genome |
| Maps to formulation | Broad category | Specific organisms |
Where the evidence stands. Flore is clinically informed and built on nine years of longitudinal data, but there are no published randomized controlled trials of the platform. The autism work is an open-label pilot published in mSystems — a pilot, not an RCT. Separately, an autism diagnostic model developed with the Autism Brain Foundation reported an AUC of 0.936 across 15,249 whole-genome samples. We state this plainly so you can weigh it for your practice.
Flore studies microbiome signatures across 200+ conditions under IRB oversight. Flore builds and designs the formulation and the analysis; sequencing is performed by independent accredited laboratories. Flore describes what the data shows, not proprietary methodology.
